Let's Get Started!
Work with small areas...
Hallways tend to be very small spaces which do not allow for very much storage space. This being said this is usually the place where everything ends up being left. Shoes, Bags, Coats, Mail and Keys all have no place to go.
This Storage cabinet allows for some of that clutter to be hidden away. The drawers store shoes whilst still being accessable and stylish. A small bowl on the top can hold your keys and spare change for when you leave the house.
We particularly love the different shaped and sized hanging mirrors and the small clear bottle with some simple plants in it.
Use lots of mirrors!
Mirrors are such an important part in making a space appear larger. This is where you can really add character and style. The image in the top left shows lots of different shaped mirrors hanging at different heights. (This is similar to our first image in the blog post) having your mirrors like this allow the room to look bigger as light is reflected off of them. The different styles give a quirky feel. The image on the top left shows a very narrow wooden mirror. This is has a very retro feel and is good for homes that do not have lots of wall space or restrictions on how many things can be hung on the wall. Paired with the table below it the mirror acts as a touch up vanity station for before leaving the house. Finally the image on the bottom left is for that wow factor. The large baroque-style mirror emphasizes the space. It keeps within the neutral colour scheme whilst brightening the room.
Doormats and Rugs...
Yes I know we were talking about Hallways, however how is any hallway going to stay clean of the wet and mud that ruins your beautiful carpets and rugs. Always invest in a doormat to go outside your front door to remove everything you don't want coming into your home.
Rugs are a great way to add warmth, colour and style to a room.
In the top right image you can see a turquoise patterned rug that really helps to pull the room together. The orange helps to warm up the room collaborating with the floorboards and the different colours in the rug are played throughout the whole room. This hallway does really well with portraying a happy yet calm vibe.
In the bottom room however, there is a very minimalist approach. The rug is a key feature and everything around it has been played down to help it stand out. The colours throughout the room are very neutral and this works very well as there is a natural element of the cow hide.
