Books

The first decision you need to make is what books you would like on display.  The first instinct is to display all the books in your collection.  However you should spend time sorting through with books you will actually read or want on display. Try grouping books together as seen in the image to the left. Rotate between stacking vertically and horizontally.

Utilise Storage Space

Staying organised is a huge aspect for us at Emiline House. These beautiful storage boxes are a great way to keep everything organised and hide those unsightly items. What you put in these boxes will depend on which room your bookcase is in. If it is in your living room you could keep remotes and wires for the television. In a bedroom you could store your makeup and toiletries in there, for an office you could keep your paperwork ready to file. The options are endless.

If boxes aren't your style you could use wicker baskets or even have a cupboard built into the lower section of your bookcase.

Vases

Vases are a great way to fill empty space in your bookshelf yet still show off your personal style and taste. There are so many beautiful and unique vases out there, there's something for everyone. If you don't want to splurge have a look at carbon sales there is always at least one out there!. A great tip for styling with vases is to find a clear vase and fill it with something you love at fits well with the decor. In the image above shells have been used which fits nicely with the "seaside" theme. The wooden boarding, blue books and shells give off a very nautical look.  Try layering your images like on the right with different shapes, sizes and textures.

Bookends

If you are having trouble keeping your books upright why not try using bookends. This another way of adding your personal style to your design. You could even try DIY-ing your own book ends like in the image on the right.

Add items that inspire you...
